CableBuilder Training

Cimteq runs a number of training courses to help you implement and use CableBuilder to maximise your return on investment.

Basic training

You will be trained to set up the basic system components and enter your own basic data, like machines, work centres, raw materials, etc. You will also be instructed how to use CableBuilder to design a cable. The subjects covered are:

  • Setting up base data including, users, machines, work centres etc.
  • Finding designs using the search capabilities
  • Creating designs
  • Coping designs, and various design maintenance activities
  • Using change and version control
  • Performing mass changes using projects
  • Sending designs to the business system (if applicable)

The duration of the basic training course is 2 days. Attendees are expected to have a basic knowledge of cable design and to be familiar with the use of a web browser.

Advanced training

CableBuilder is an expert system. When you take it out of the box it does not have all the parameters that are specific to your company. During this advanced course you will be trained to tailor CableBuilder to your companies specific requirements. The subjects covered are:

  • Adding and changing production processes, like insulation, taping, etc.
  • Adding and changing design and processing attributes to hold design data
  • Adding and changing formulas and tables to calculate various design and processing attributes
  • Maintain cable modules for use with design wizards to enable quick design generation for more standard designs
  • Producing product datasheets and catalogues
  • Using the quotations module to provide customer quotations
  • Set up and use the multilingual feature

The duration of the advanced training course is 2 days. Attendees of the advanced training course will be expected to have completed the basic training course and be familiar with at least one programming language, or spreadsheet formulas.

Application customisation training

CableBuilder is a J2EE architecture which means that there are several levels of application customisations that can be implemented. One type of customisation is to produce reports that are business specific, or change the standard CableBuilder screen formats. This course enables you to perform these activities yourselves. The subjects covered are:

  • Presentation of CableBuilder's system architecture
  • Introduction to CableBuilder's database architecture
  • Introduction to HTML
  • What is XML and how is it used in CableBuilder
  • How to transform XML to HTML using a stylesheet (XSL)

The duration of the customisation training course is 3 days. Attendees of this course are expected to have good knowledge of programming and a basic knowledge of HTML.
